Laverne Cox To Star In ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ Reboot

Two things that’ll make you ask “Ugh, but Why?”: 1. They’re remaking The Rocky Horror Picture Show for TV. 2. Laverne Cox has been cast as the lead, Dr. Frank-N-Furter.

Laverne Cox To Star In 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' Reboot

It was just announced, the two-hour television event is set to debut in fall 2016 with Laverne filing the role made iconic by Tim Curry in 1975.

The film is currently celebrating 40 years of theatrical distribution, a record untouched by any other movie in history.

Okay, but here’s the thing… am I the only one not too sure about Laverne Cox playing Dr. Frank-N-Furter?

Listen (or I guess, read), obviously Cox has achieved so much and has been an amazing leader in the LGBTQ community. She seems like a perfectly sweet and smart woman, but she just doesn’t seem… right for the role.

Dr. Frank-N-Furter is a sexually ambiguous, mad scientist alien from Transylvania. Does that sound like shoes Laverne could fill?

Check out this clip from the film and make up your mind:

I’m not counting her out, but I’m not exactly expecting to be wowed. Either way congratulations to her and hopefully she can turn it out!
